Lighting a kitchen
Kitchens need bright, even light for cooking and a warmer layer for eating. Pendants over the island do both: glass shades such as the Lavagna and Dutchess spread light widely, while a brass dome like the Hollis throws it down onto the worktop.
How far apart should pendants be over an island?
Leave roughly 24–30 inches between pendants and about 6 inches from each end of the island. Two larger pendants suit a short island; three smaller ones suit a longer one.
